The Jockey Hollow Stamp Club has about 25 dues-paying members, including dealers, specialists, and hobbyists. Regardless of experience levels, all share a common interest in Philately.
Regular ZOOM meetings are temporarily being held 7 – 8:30 on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday evenings of the month (except major holidays). When things get back to “normal”...we will be back to meeting in the 1st floor (smaller) conference room of the Morris County Library...which is located at 30 East Hanover Ave., Whippany NJ 07981...right across from the entrance to the Frelinghuysen Arboretum.
Usually, for the 1st Wednesday monthly "Chat" meetings, members are encouraged to bring an item from their collection — perhaps to seek their colleagues’ assistance in identification, to present an interesting cover, or to show examples of varieties of some issue. We also share information about other auctions, bourses, and stamp shows. We can do this on ZOOM also....
The meetings on the 3rd Wednesday nights usually have some type of more structured program...such as: Member Show & Tell presentations, Guest Speakers, APS slide shows, “How To” sessions. Again...we are attempting to transition this onto ZOOM also.
In addition to these monthly meetings the club organizes other activities, including visits to the American Philatelic Society/APS in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania every year... except since March 2020.
The club frequently holds auctions, with maybe 5 to 15 lots...an interesting mixture of US and Worldwide stamps plus some philatelic publications/references, etc....not much going on here since March 2020.
JHSC also publishes a quarterly journal.
Visitors are always welcome! This is true even in our “ZOOM” situation...just send us an email and we will get an invitation to you. Frequently there are door prizes.
